Construction Colleagues:

Hurricanes have devastated many of our Florida communities. Many of your family, friends and members of the industry are affected. A portion of the construction industry (ABC, AGC, FHBA and FRSA)has been involved with the Division of Emergency Management, FSU and
FEMA in developing the Disaster Contractor Network (DCN).

The DCN is not a collection of contractors but an organization that will coordinate the industry in this disaster. DCN will act as a clearinghouse for contractors who can assist in the recovery and protect the consumer by providing licensed contractors to perform the repairs.

You are being asked to go on line to www.dcnonline.org. This site contains information that will help you and your customers. Please sign up and register. This not only applies to contractors but also manufactures distributors and suppliers.

Once on the DCN homepage, you may skip the introduction and then click on "Emergency Operations Center". From there you will be asked to do two things; indicate any "resources" you have to contribute to the relief effort and indicate any "critical needs" you have. This will allow us to communicate to you directly regarding ways you can be involved in the recovery.

Please note that it will be several days before the web site is fully operational. This is natural during the first few days after a disaster. Please be patient. Ultimately the site will be the method for us to communicate with you and for you to tell us how to help you.

Remember, this site is for you. Use it. Send in information on disaster related activities. For those without power, our various organizations will be coordinating on-the-ground responses from our local associations and members.

Thank you for your time and assistance. Together we will build back better. One unfortunate result of prior storms is that unlicensed activity was prevalent. By the associations and licensed contractors responding to the storm, the harm of unlicensed activity to the public can be minimized.
