About Us:

Building A Safer Florida, Inc. is a Florida not-for-profit organization formed under Chapter 617, Florida Statutes, on June 26, 2001. Membership in the organization is limited to individuals tied to, and appointed by, a statewide trade or professional association whose membership is principally composed of individuals required to be licensed in a trade or profession associated with the construction industry in Florida.

WHY Building a Safer Florida, Inc. was formed:

The Florida Building Commission and Department of Community Affairs are charged with the obligation of seeing that the minimum training requirements under the Florida Building Code are met for the following licensed individuals:

-Architects, Interior Designers, and Landscape Architects, licensed under chapter 471, Florida Statutes

-Engineers, licensed under chapter 481, Florida Statutes

-Building Code Administrators and Inspectors, licensed under part XII, chapter 468, Florida Statutes

-Construction Contractors, licensed under chapter 489, Florida Statutes

-Professional and trade associations represented in Building a Safer Florida, Inc. are:
